Guwahati: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati in February 2026. The official website for the examination — gate2026.iitg.ac.in — has been launched.
Registration Details:
The online application process begins on August 25, 2025, and will continue without a late fee until September 25, 2025. Candidates can apply during the extended period until October 6, 2025, by paying a late fee.
Exam Schedule:
GATE 2026 will be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. The results are expected to be announced on March 19, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates currently in the third year or higher, or those who have completed a degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities from a recognized institute, are eligible. International candidates and those with equivalent qualifications approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC can also apply.

About GATE:
GATE is a national-level exam that evaluates candidates’ understanding of undergraduate-level subjects. It is used for admissions to Master’s and direct Doctoral programs in various disciplines and is also a gateway for recruitment in several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
Admission & Financial Assistance:
A valid GATE score enables admission to postgraduate and doctoral programs in institutes supported by the Ministry of Education and other government bodies.

M.Tech students receive a stipend of ₹12,400 per month (typically for 22 months).

PhD scholars receive ₹37,000/month (first two years) and ₹42,000/month (third to fifth year).
PSU Recruitment:
