More About Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University
The famous Ranchi College was upgraded to a Unitary State University on April 11, 2017 and was named after India’s famous politician and academician Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee. Ranchi College which was founded in 1926 as a Government Intermediate College, started offering under-graduate and post–graduate courses in various subjects of Arts and Science from 1946. It was a part of the Patna University till the creation of Ranchi University on 12th July, 1960. Ranchi College was recognised as a College with Potential for Excellence by the UGC and did not look back ever since.
