More About Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses
Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) was established as a registered society in New Delhi on November 11, 1965. Its mission is to promote national and international security through the generation and dissemination of knowledge on defence and security-related issues. The Institute is home to scholars and analysts from all over the world and provides a platform for bringing together innovative thinkers from a range of disciplines and subject areas including international relations, area studies, military affairs, energy, climate change, economics, social sciences, and science and technology.
Its mission is to provide objective assessments of issues relating to national and international security. IDSA provides annual training programmes to civilian and military officers of the Government of India. Lectures by experts from IDSA and from outside form the core of these programmes.
IDSA Visiting Fellowships
The IDSA Visiting Fellowship Programme is a residential fellowship programme that invites scholars working on subjects relevant to the field of international relations and area studies, or relevant themes that have a bearing on national, regional or international security. The programme provides scholars the opportunity to carry out substantive research in an exciting intellectual environment.
The programme runs on following tracks –
- International Visiting Fellows Programme (for scholars based in India and abroad) and
- Asia and Africa Visiting Fellows Programme (excluding India)
IDSA Internship Program
The IDSA Internship Program is highly competitive and especially useful for young students who have completed a first degree in any discipline relevant to the work of IDSA. Internships ideally last for a period of not less than six months and can be extended to a year on mutual agreement.
Eligibility
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Masters degree in a relevant discipline. Those pursuing the final year of a Masters degree may also apply. However, selection will be based on merit.
Duration
Internships ideally last for a period of not less than six months.
