The University of Kerala was founded as the University of Travancore in 1937. The earliest origins of the University may be traced back to two institutions of modern learning in Kerala, the University College, Thiruvananthapuram and the Trivandrum Observatory.

Currently, the University has sixteen faculties and forty one departments of teaching and research in addition to study centres and other departments.  The University has also established 10 University College of Teacher Education (UTEC) and 8 University Institute of Technologies (UIT) both of which offer under-graduate programmes (BEd in UTECs and BSc Computer Science/IT, Electronics/BBA in UITs), although masters programmes are available in select UITs.

The beginning of research activities in the University dates back to the initial statges when it was the University of Travancore. The research programs in various disciplines are undertaken presently by the departments and centres of teaching and research of the University and also by other research centres recognized by the University. Admission to PhD is based on entrance test followed by interview. Over the years, research has been a strong area of focus and quality research papers have been published in all national and international journals.

University of Kerala Admission Process

B.Tech and B.Arch admission is based on the score in Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical and Pharmacy (KEAM) entrance conducted by CEE, Kerala.

NATA qualified candidates are also eligible to apply for B.Arch course.

For M.Tech, a valid GATE score holders are also eligible to apply.

For MBA (Full-Time), candidates are selected as per their marks in KMAT, CAT or CMAT followed by GD and PI.

Admission to M.Phil and Ph.D. courses is granted on the basis of university-based entrance followed by an interview.

Mahatma Gandhi University Admission Process

Admission to BA, B.Com, B.Sc and BCA programs is through Centralised Allotment Process (CAP)  which is a single admission window for candidates offered by the university.

For PG program, candidates are shortlisted on the basis of their qualifying degree merit/ marks scored in the university entrance exam. For certain specializations in MA and M.Sc, candidates are selected on the basis of qualifying degree merit while CAT-MGU is conducted the in case of other specializations. In addition to MA and M.Sc programme, CAT MGU is also conducted for admission to M.Ed and LL.M programme. Admission to BA.LLB (5 years)/ LL.B (3 years) programme is also through MGU-CAT.

Kerala Agricultural University Admission Process

The University follows online mode of application only. Students are admitted to the Under Graduate courses of the university on the basis of the ranks obtained in the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala.

Admissions to BSc Co-operation and Banking (C&B) course are made on merit.

For the PG courses, admissions are made on the basis of merit scored in the entrance test conducted by the university.

For the admissions to Ph.D., selections are made by the committee constituted by the University for the purpose on the basis of written test and interview. Ph. D. admissions are on the basis of interview. Application forms for PG courses can be downloaded from this website.

Kannur University Admission Process

For admission to undergraduate degree courses, candidates must have 10+2 examination of the state or examination accepted by the university as equivalent thereto.

MPhil Programmes

Candidates seeking admission to the Master of Philosophy degree course should have passed a Master’s degree examination in the concerned subject of any of the Universities approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or an examination accepted by the Academic Council as equivalent thereto and have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade) in the examination.  For M.Phil in Life Sciences the minimum eligibility is 60% in the qualifying examination.  Candidates who have passed the Master’s degree examination in the Distance/Continuing Education mode are eligible for admission only if their degree is awarded by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

PhD Programmes

Candidates seeking registration to the Ph.D programme should have a Master’s Degree from a recognized University with 55% marks in the qualifying examination, or a CGPA of 6.0 in the 10 point scale or an equivalent grade in similar scales.
