Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya or IGKV was established on 20th January 1987 after bifurcating from Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur. Its main objective is to work for the up-liftment of farmer’s livelihood of Chhattisgarh. Education, Research and Extension are the major activities coordinated through agriculture, veterinary, dairy and agricultural engineering faculties and Directorates of instruction, research and extension. Grant in aid is received from ICAR, State Government and international agencies.

Under Graduate Admission Procedure

The admission in first year of B.Sc.(Agri) is done on the basis of a merit list provided by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board of the State Government. The Board conducts a Pre Agriculture Test (PAT) for B.Sc.(Agri) and B.SC.(Hort) courses, Pre Engineering Test (PET) for B.Tech. of Agriculture Engineering.

Post Graduate Admission Procedure

The Common Entrance Test (CET) of graduates of Agriculture is conducted by the University and based on performance of the candidates a merit list is prepared. Based on the merit list, admissions are given in the subject of their choice. The roaster of reservation is followed for these admission also.

Ph.D. Admission Procedure

Similar to PG admission for Ph.D. also a Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by the University and admission to the candidates is given based on their performance in CET which includes academic performance in PG and written and oral tests. Thus, a list is prepared and final admission is given according to State Government roaster for different categories.

Post-Graduate Program (One-Year LL.M.)

HNLU offers one-year LL.M. Program spread over three trimesters. The LL.M. program is designed to inculcate research skills and analytical abilities in students. In addition to classroom training imparted through innovative teaching methods, the LL.M. Program is focused on self-learning and research conducted by the students under the guidance of the faculty members.

Ph.D. Program

Ph.D. Program in Law has commenced at HNLU w.e.f. academic session 2014-15 wherein admission of scholars is made strictly on the basis of admission test conducted by the University separately.

HNLU Admission Process

B.A.LL.B. (Honours)
Admission to the B.A.LL.B. (Honours) Program shall exclusively be based on the performance of the candidate in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). However, in order to be eligible to appear in CLAT, a candidate should have obtained a Senior Secondary School/Intermediate (10 2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognized Board with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) and should be below 20 years of age as on 1st July 2015 (22 years in case of SC/ST and PWD candidates).

Candidates who are appearing or have appeared in the 10 plus 2 examination and are awaiting results are also eligible to appear in the test. However, such candidates are required to have passed the qualifying examination at the time of their admission and must be able to submit proofs in support of their claims.

LL.M. Program
Admission to the LL.M. Program shall exclusively be based on the performance of the candidate in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). However, in order to be eligible to appear in CLAT, a candidate should have obtained a LL.B./B.L. Degree or an equivalent degree from a recognized University with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of SC and ST candidates).

Ph.D. (Law)
A Ph.D. (Law) Programme scholar may be allowed to supplicate his/her Ph.D. thesis after the completion of two Academic Calendar Years of the University from the date of his/her Registration. However, no Ph.D. scholar may be allowed to supplicate his/her Ph.D. thesis later than four Academic Calendar Years from the date of his/her Registration.

Over and above the seat quota of the state(36 seats), 15% seats (05 seats) are filled through “All India Entrance Examination for Admission” conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B. F. Sc.)

Admission to undergraduate programme leading to Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F. Sc.) degree is done through merit list of state level competitive examination conducted by Chhattisgarh State Professional Examination Board for XII class Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (attaining 50% marks in these subjects overall ) stream students. Over and above the seat quota of the state (30 seats), 15% seats(05) are filled through “All India Entrance Examination for Admission” conducted by Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Two (02) seats are reserved for employees of Department of Fisheries (Govt. of Chhattisgarh), which are also filled through the above mentioned criteria.
