Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research was formerly known as V.S.S.Medical College and Hospital. It was established in 1959 and offers courses in medical and nursing. It caters to the health needs of Western Odisha, part of Chhatisgarh and Jharkhand. The main objective of the university is to develop a pattern of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in all its branches so as to prepare Human Resources for Health for Odisha and India at large.

For admission to MBBS course a candidate requires a pass in HSC with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 50% marks in aggregate. Candidates are selected on the basis of NEET UG score. The candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission on or before December 31 of that year.
MD and MS Admission
VIMSAR offers MD and MS programs in various specializations. Candidates should have done MBBS or equivalent from any recognized institute to take admission in the PG courses.
