Kannur University was established in 1996 as Malabar University. The objective of the Kannur University Act 1996 was to establish a teaching, residential and affiliating University in Kerala, promoting the development of higher education in Kasargod and Kannur revenue districts and the Mananthavady Taluk of Wayanad District.

Kannur University Admission Process
For admission to undergraduate degree courses, candidates must have 10+2 examination of the state or examination accepted by the university as equivalent thereto.
Admission to Bachelor degree courses offered by Kannur University is done through UG CAP on the basis of marks scored in 10+2 level or equivalent.
Admission to Postgraduate degree courses offered by Kannur University is done through PG CAP on the basis of marks scored in the undergraduate level.
For admission to B.Ed and LL.B degree, the students should possess graduate degree in any discipline.
Ph.D aspirants must possess master’s degree with at least 55% aggregate in marks from a recognized university.
For PG and Research level courses, eligible candidates need to to appear in the entrance test conducted by the university.
