More About Ranchi University
Ranchi University was established on July 12, 1960. It initially started with 10 postgraduate departments and one constituent college gradually grew to have 23 post graduate departments, 15 constituent colleges, and 49 affiliated colleges, imparting teaching in medicine, psychiatry, law, engineering, business management, education, and general courses.
Ranchi University Courses
Beside regular courses, Ranchi University also offers post graduate level Self Financing/Vocational courses namely L.L.M., M.B.A., M.C.A., M.Sc in Electronics & Communication, P.G Diploma in Medicinal Plant & P.G. Diploma in Plant Bio- Technology.
There are also several add-on-courses (certificate/diploma/advanced diploma) for skill enhancement as well. The University also runs a Women’s Study Centre at Ranchi Women’s College, Ranchi for ensuring gender equality. The University also runs coaching classes for those who want to appear for NET or SET.
Faculty Of Arts (Humanities & Social Sciences
BA/BA (Hons): Eligibility Intermediate from Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi or equivalent. Duration 3 years.
MA: Eligibility BA/BA (Hons). Duration 2 years (Four semesters) with an exam at the end of each semester.
Faculty Of Commerce
BCom/BCom (Hons): Eligibility Intermediate in Commerce or Science. Subjects B Com Hons and General Courses offered. Duration 3 years.

BEd: Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree. Duration 1 year
Faculty Of Engineering
B Tech. : Eligibility: Intermediate with Phy, Chem & Maths. Duration 4 years with University exam of 8 semesters.
M.Tech: Eligibility BTech. Duration: 2 yrs of 4 semesters.

LLB: Eligibility Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Duration 3 years (Six Semesters).
Faculty Of Medicine
MBBS: Eligibility Intermediate Sc with Phy, Chem and Biology
MD/ MS: For admission, a student must have passed the MBBS exam of the University or any other recognised degree.
MD (Psychiatry): Eligibility MBBS. Duration 3 yrs. The university also conducts MCh course.
Basic BSc Nursing: Eligibility Intermediate Sc with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English (PCBE) with 50% aggregate marks.

BSc/BSc (Hons) : Eligibility Intermediate in Sc. Duration 3 years.

Ranchi University Admission Process
MBA
The candidates will be selected on the basis of national level or state level entrance examinations such as, CAT, MAT, CMAT, ATMA followed by the past academic record of the candidate, required work experience and GDPI rounds.
- Tech
Admission to M.Tech. is done through GATE entrance exam. The candidates after getting selected will be called for the counseling session (CCMT). Following is the schedule for counseling.
BTech
The minimum eligibility for B.Tech. is a pass in class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The candidates will be selected based on Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) score or JEE Main score.
