Junagadh Agricultural University
For strengthening agricultural activities, Gujarat Agricultural University was segregated into four universities and Junagadh Agricultural University was one of them established in 2004.
Currently, the university represents ten districts viz., Amreli, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Gir Somnath and Morbi historically known as Saurashtra. The university is functioning in a typical Arid and Semi Arid type of climate in the state. Hence, drought, erratic rainfall, low fertility and salinity ingress are the major constraints limiting productivity and prosperity of the agriculture of this region. This is one important aspect that the University and its research and extension wings work upon. The major crops grown in the region are oilseeds (groundnut, sesame, castor), cotton, bajra, wheat and spices followed by mango and sapota among fruits. Saurashtra is the home of famous breed of cattle, cow (Gir), buffalo (Jafrabadi), goat (Zalawadi) and horse (Kathi).

Junagadh Agricultural University Admission Process
Junagadh Agricultural University UG Admission
B.Sc., B.Tech and B.F.Sc. courses are offered for a duration of four years, whereas, the B.V.Sc. & A.H. course is offered for a duration of five years at JAU.
The admission to all the undergraduate courses are based on the GUJCET score of the candidates. GUJCET stands for Gujarat Common Entrance Test conducted by Gujarat State Education Board (GSEB) for candidates who are giving their 10 plus 2 examination.
Junagadh Agricultural University PG Admission
All these courses are offered for a period of two years. In addition, the University also offers a PG Diploma course in Agriculture I.T. for a duration of 18 months.
